Windows NT "Ordinal 654" Error Messages

By CobaltWave ·
Hello,

I have been researching a problem with Windows NT regarding the error message "The ordinal 654 could not be located in the dynamic link library SHELL32.DLL" and have found several postings of the problem, but no solution is posted. Do youhave any information on this issue or links to forms/people who could advise me on the solution? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
J. Kafka

go to www.microsoft.com/support
in the SEARCH window, type in the error message you are recieving and it will give you suggested answers to help you solve your problem. This is the MS Knowledge base, you can use this when you need t, to find problems out, enter error codes from windows and messages also.

Windows NT "Ordinal 654" Error Messages

Mat,

Thanks for replying to my inquiry. I was fortunate to
resolve this issue through advice from another forum
member. All I had to do was replace the COMDLG32.DLL
file in WINNT\SYSTEM32 from an acceptable backup,
which happened to be the SP6a CD.

Just FYI, I have not had good experiences with the
Microsoft Knowledgebase. Rarely will it ever return
information on a problem and when it does it only
identifies the problem and does not give any practical
advice on how toresolve the issue. On the other hand, I
have had 100% success getting advice from third-party
sources via online forums, like TechRepublic and
Computing.Net. Partly because they don't work for
Microsoft and don't have to protect the "partyline" and
partly because they are out in the field actually using the
products and suffer along with the rest of us.

Thanks again for replying to my inquiry.

Best regards,
JEK
