windows old

i had a problem such as my windows xp did not connect to the internet any longer due to the fact that i tampered with some files i shouldnt have so what i did was installed vista and made a partition i believe. well the computer told me that all my xp files would be saved in afolder called wondows.old but what i am trying to do is delete my windows old so i can free up some space what i would like to know is if i do so {if i can} will it in any way besides good affect my current vista setings or programs etc.? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

What should have happened here is that the Old Windows Folder

That has the Old OS XP in this case is what should have been renamed to Windows Old.

So under those circumstances Yes you can delete the Windows Old Folder without any adverse effects on your Vista Install.

Check to see if it is in

Programs & Features and remove it from there if it is. Otherwise just hold down the shift key and press delete while the folder is highlighted.
