    Windows Protection Error

    After completely formating and running setup, for windows 95, I get an “Error Initializing IOS: Windows Protection Error You need to restart.” What is the problem? It just does not make any sense?

      Edit the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files and disable any references to Smartdrv.exe. To disable a line, type rem at the beginning of the line.

      Head to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo& (The ms kb)

      and look up ms kb Q263466 , Q311108, Q149962.
      One device is not device is not initiaziling properly.

      I had a simialr problem happen to me and I found out the the security setting was on in the bios. Once I disabled that setting I was able to proceed with the Win installation.
