Windows protection error

I have an AMD K6/2 550Mhz CPU with 64 MB of RAM on my computer. I got a windows protection error every time I boot the machine. It doesn't matter if it is Windows 95 or 98. The computer boots fine on safe mode. The motherboard, CPU, RAM and HD are new. Cn you help me?

The protection error is a warning given when the accessing hardware that you may be have to update to current drivers for your system.
Go to device manager and check for any conflicts in the named parts,if there is not a conflict,right click the device and choose properties and then click on the update the drivers button.

Go to programs sustem tools and run
system information.Go Componants and to
problem devices. It should tell you what is
causing the problem.

There is a patch for that put out by AMD on their web site, along with that they will tell you to update your motherboard drivers in conjuction with the patch the have put out. there should be two. One for the CPU and the other is for the chipset onthe motherboard depending on which one you have.

For Windows 95, be sure you have the AMD update for Win95 applied (see Microsoft KB Q192841 & Q234259).

For Win98, boot in safe mode, then use MSConfig.exe (type "msconfig" in the run command) to deactivate programs and protected-mode drivers until you can boot successfully. The last change you made pinpoints the cause of the problem (which I think is a device driver not loading properly).
