    Windows – Registry Recovery

    Locked

    by josemeza ·

I just finished “ghosting” a pc and upon restarting I got the following message: “One of the files containing the system’s registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.”

Once I click OK the PCbehaves normally. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thank you.

You don’t need to do anything since the recovery was successful.

The problem is that I get that same message every time I boot up the PC.

You may fix it by Restoring the Registry backup manually or reinstall the O.S

When I have seen this message, the computer restarted fine on the next attempt. I assume this is not the case, else you would not be asking your question.
The “recovery was successful” part of the message implies that at that point the registry was usable. If the message comes up on the next restart, this implies that the recovered registry was not saved properly. Does the shutdown appear to be normal? Have you taken any actions that could have modified the registry subsequent to shutdown?
I think I would next try running system restore to reset to the last restore checkpoint, then shut down and restart.
