Windows SBS 2003. seperate server??

by swifty_lyrical . Updated 19 years ago

Hi,

I work for a small business that currently has about 40 xp clients connected to 1 windows sbs 2003 server. It’s a dual core P4 with 2gb RAM
and is currently running programs such as SQL 2005 (I think full) exchange 2003, and something else I forget.

Now being the mail server and the domain controller I am under the impression that it would really be able to take much more computationally. However I would like to implement server based builds (such as RIS but I havent fully decided), Windows Update Services, and decent Security Suite.

I am wondering If it is possible for me to add another server to the domain and have it run these programs, (e.g McAffee EPO, WSUS3.0, BDD) and if so, would anyone be able to point me in the right direction for the information please?

EDIT: we currently have an older windows 2k server that is being unused. Would it be possible to use this or would it need to be upgraded to 2003?
many thanks
