Windows Script program (may be?)

By hp1968 ·
Hello Gurus,

I have a requirement to make copies of a file from A folder to multiple folders in the same server. What is the best way of doing this? Windows Script???? this program needs to be scheduled for every 10 minutes on the server. And also I need some kind of monintoring to keep track. If this program fails for some reason, someone needs to be notified. Can we use Windows batch scheduler for this??

I am not a developer and so looking for some help in finding the good solution for this task. If there is any code sample, that will be very helpful.

thanks in advance...Hari

Use task scheduler to create the event to call a BAT file. I would use robocopy. It has logging features so you can see what it did.

It is included in the Windows 2003 Resource Kit:

I would use the Task Scheduler as suggested by the other poster. But I would write your script in vbscript not batch. You can test for errors and have it write messages to a log, and you can also use the CDO object to send an email to your SMTP server if there is an issue. I use this method all the time. If you feel like you need a code sample I can supply one later tonight or tomorrow.

I am a fan of Microsofts unsupported Power tool call SyncToy.

But RoboCopy may provide more flexability. here is the link to a technet article on RoboCopy.
