My windows search bar has stopped working and I have no idea how to fix it. I’ve ran search index troubleshooter which recognizes the problem and when I “fix it” it still doesn’t work, I’ve updated my PC & restarted and still does not work, any ideas on how else to fix it? please let me know

Remember this issue has thousands of prior answers which you discover not all work or the fix isn’t always the same thing. Sometimes it’s what you did, the next time you find the Security Suite borked it.

-> My fix? EVERYTHING. Yes, that’s an app. Link follows:
      https://www.voidtools.com has it.

Let me mention an alternative to Everthing, mentioned by rproffitt. That’s Ultrasearch from https://www.jam-software.com/ultrasearch_free (yes, it’s free). You can try both and then choose which one you like most.

If you prefer to keep using Windows Search: it’s very likely it will work again after a reset of Windows. But then you’ll have to reinstall all your programs.

Your choice to fix it, or to use another search tool.

Windows 10 allows you to pick when and how to get the furthest down the line updates to keep your gadget moving along as planned and safely. To deal with your choices and see any accessible updates, select the Start catch, and afterward go to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Check for refreshes. Introduce any accessible updates, and afterward restart your PC if the updates require it.

When Windows search isn’t working, it’s almost always a simple software problem. The system may just need a restart to get it working again. Other possible causes could be network-related or the search system itself having a service interruption.
