windows security and software updates

By ehinkle27 ·
How can I tell which security and software updates I have installed on my computer for the applications ie.(Internet explore, office) and the OS ie(windows 98/2000).

I know I can find it using windows update and connecting to the internet. How could I find out without connecting to the internet? Does microsoft have a utility that will search your system like windows update does and inform you?

thanks

Nope. Your best bet will be to run Windows Update and connect to the 'Net.

You will have to connected to the internet to open the browser and check for security by clicking on the Help Menu,in the drop down menu you want to select About Internet Explorer to check.
When you go to Windows Update at the top it has a button to check for installed updates at the top of page.
To check for applications you can use Windows Explorer or from Start>Programs.
Windows up date has a option to notify you can load from the updates page that will notify you of critical updates.
