windows server 2003 and folder redirection

By shawnj985 ·
I am attempting to use the group policy editor to setup folder redirection for the My Documents folder (User Config. | Windows Settings | Folder Redirection | My Documents) but during the last step within the editor, I receive the following error:

Unable to save the redirection information to the configuration file. The following error occured: Access is denied.

What area needs more access????? thanks in advance for any help.

I had to share the folder and give Everyone Full control. Then I went to the Security tab removed Everyone and put the specific user in with Full control. The NTFS permission overrides the share permissions. See if that helps.

RE: Permissions

Thanks but that didn't work either. Some of the instructions on the internet seem soooooooo easy but its not.

If you think of something else, let me know.

By the way, I am logged in as the admin user.

Is this a domain environment?

Is the Admin user you logged in as, a domain Admin.

Does the Admin user you logged in as have rights to the share?

Make sure that you have rights to that folder

You've probably checked this already. But make sure that you give yourself full access to that folder then try creating the redirection again.

Make sure you create a share on the server first.
