Just bought an HP Deskjet 6940. I hooked it up to my network and assigned it an IP address. I then attempted to add the drivers that came with it to a Windows 2003 server (used as a terminal server). Much to my dismay, HP does NOT support windows 2003 server. The driver stopped loading. I wrote HP support about any drivers for the 6940 and they stated back that no drivers are available for the windows 2003 server. I have attached the printer via a cat-5 only to the network & not to any individual machine. Being a programmer, I looked for ‘similar’ devices. I tried the windows supplied HP Deskjet 694C driver. I added the tcp/ip port and BINGO – I got a test page. Don’t know if anyone can use this information (may work also on the 6980 printers – same HP driver as the 6940).
