windows server administration guide??

Hi someone asked me
“how do you manage windows server 2003?”
I had been doing server for awhile but at level 2 trouble shooting for print server backup server(runnung Symantec Backup exec. 10)
but realized i cannot answer that question?!?!

What i usually do are checking the Server log in windows “event viewer”.
but i was told what else besides checking logs?
I said: “use windows Performance monitoring”, well was told wrong!?
hmm… that makes me wonder am in doing the wrong thing all this while.
Can someone help me out?
i had been looking for documents on maintance of server but most are deployment, AD, IIS, SQL guides etc.
is there sure thing like guide to administrator a windows server(Let say a DC)?
