A DNS server resolves FQDN e.g. www.techrepublic.com into IP addresses

A DHCP server auto configures network settings (IP, WINS, DNS)in clients

How to install a DHCP server can be found here

and how to install a DNS is here

DNS is for converting IP address to www.example.com

DHCP is more convenient for ppl and no conflicts with ip address..Is an auto assign ip to workstation.. Can say plug network cable and use it without any configuration if using internet.(either on server or router)

DNS very important for Winnt server. LEt say Win2k server..
When u set Active Directory,, it will prompt you to install DNS..just install and u will have DNS

DNS for Win2k Prof is very important because with the right DNS ip on the workstation can log in to the server faster alot than those with wrong IP address, let say to router.
