Windows SMB Server 2003 Replacing Issue

by northern_wolf . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

Many of my clients use Windows 2003 Small Business Server. When purchasing a new server (be it 2003 or 2008 SMB) I cannot join to the domain and promote the server to PDC as you can only have one SMB server on any domain. I am forced to rejoin every client to the domain to re-establish the trust relationship with the new server.

Occasionally the server is a mess as well so I dont want to ‘image’ it and restore it per se, as I know thats possible. I want a clean server.

I am thinking there must be a better solution than this (other than not buying SMB).

Any help or input would be appreciated.
