If you are using NT or 95/98, try removing/uninstalling the network card. Reboot the PC. Then once it has rebooted make sure nothing from the network card shows. Shut it down. Put the network card back in and boot the PC back up again. Make sure youhave the NT or 95/98 disk at hand and the drivers for the card. Install the card again and if you have got NT make sure you get it to copy all the files from the CD. Once you have done that Service Pack it, reboot and try it again.
Are you using win9x, if yes right click on network neighboorhood/PROPERTIES..choose TCPIP and REMOVE click OK twice ( to be back on the desktop only) when windows ask you to restart, just say NO, and go back in the TCPIP properties and reinstall themby choosing ADD/PROTOCOL/TCPIP, as soon as it's done, it will bind it with your network adapter, if you can see it , you have win...good luck !!!
