Windows Sound Problem

I have lost all sound, my cd rom works as do my speakers but no windows sounds. I start programs that have sound when they start and I get nothing.How do I fix this?

try checking all the cables on the inside if nothing is unconnected then check your drivers and make sure you have the right ones this is probably the case

Not sure if you mean sound schemes or not. If so, go to control panel, sellect SOUNDS, and then choose which scheme you want.

Have you checked to see the volume controls? Possibly the volume's set to its lowest. From the Multimedia link on the control Panel, set the volume a little higher.
You may have a wrongly set up preferred device - you can set this right at the sameplace as above.

Hi tjandrade,
When I frist recieved my computer I had a sound problem, sometimes sound, most of the time no sound. After trying all kinds off trouble shooting. I came to the conclusion it was a hardware problem. My mother board has intergrated sound. I simply installed a soundcard and have never had a problem since ! Just thought this might solve your problem if all else fails? Thank You Nick
