Windows – temporary internet files

by pteipe . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Just wondering if anyone else has come
across several other folders of Internet
Explorer cache files. I’ve worked on several
computers at my company (NT and 98) that crash when booting up IE. By going into the temporary internet files folder, then into the Content.ie5 folder. Under Content.ie5, there are a bunch of strange folder names like 7e7gg3k and some other variants. I have noticed that even if you delete all of your temporary internet files (tools>internet options>delete files from IE5), that these folder still have a lot of junk files in them. One system I fould nearly 500mb of junk internet cache files.
Clearing out all these files seems to fix the problem, and speeds DNS resolution as well. Anyone know what all this stuff is?
