Windows Terminal Services to OS X?

By akajoey ·
Wondering if I can use Windows 2000 (or XP) Terminal Services Client to connect to a MAC running OS X? I have used the Mac remote desktop utility to connect to a Win2K server with no problems - just wondering if it works the other way.

Windows Terminal Services to OS X?

Nope. Not that I've seen, anyway.

If it's an issue big enough to drop some cash to resolve it, your best bet would be a product like Netopia's Timbuktu Pro. That would also open the remote-desktop door across more versions of Windows and MacOS (down to 95 and 8.6, respectively).

The latest version (with both X-native Mac and PC versions) runs around $190. Some patience and a leap of faith and you can find it on ebay for about half that.

Now if you're into the command line in X, telnet works nicely for (very) basic control from a PC.
