Windows Time!

By Whatme? ·
Came across a problem today. Has anyone or does anyone know how to solve it? 5 geographic sites, some with differnt time zones. The main site picks up time from the internet and all other sites (are supposed to sync). I couldn't even sync the main site with the Internet. Everytime I changed it, went right back to 12 1/2 hr plus a day different..that changed also). Finally I got them all changed ..manually.
I checked viruses,,and virus server..
This has happened 3 days in a row now. There is no other admin (all cut off)
go figure

It would help to know what OS you are using. If Windows, hit Google and search for "windows ntp client"

In a Windows domain, all the time is synched at the PDCE. You should make sure that time is synched with an external source, using the commands:

Open a command box and run these commands:

net stop w32time

net start w32time

net time /querysntp
(This one is to make sure that there really is not external SNTP server set)

In the event that one wasn't set, let's set it now by using the command:

net time /setsntp: (nearest SNTP Time Server To Your location)

A list of SNTP servers:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q262680

Note that port 123 will be required to be open on the firewall for this to work.

well, sorry if this is duh. but just pointing out that looks like what is happening is it is not picking up new time server and is still configure to use old time server and so is being reset to wrong time?
