I applied KB973879 from the Tuesday fixes and got the BSOD during the installation. After that my system kept crashing before I got a chance to fall back to a restore point or uninstall the fix. The only way to recover was to reformat my hard drive and intall a backup. This occurs on a multi-core system running Windows Vista 64 bit. I think Microsoft is aware of the problem but has no fix and has not stopped releasing this fix as a part of its regular weekly updates.
