well if you just use the windows update feature, depending on what windows machine you're using, you'll get the necessary updates for it.

well if you just use the windows update feature, depending on what windows machine you're using, you'll get the necessary updates for it. There are some components that you'll need to download and install seperately, such as service packs and some security fixes, but most you can download and install all at once using windows update.

For Security Hotfixes, you should read Q303215 Microsoft Network Security Hotfix Checker (hfnetchk.exe) Tool is Available

and

Q96861 Use QChain.exe to Install Multiple Hotfixes with Only One Reboot. If you are post Service Pack 3 on Win 2000 or are using Win XP, you will not need this, the functionality is included.

IF you goto the Windows Update site and click on the Windows Catalog, you will be presented with an option to :
a) Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems
b) Find driver updates for hardware devices

When you click on the first entry, you can choose the operating system and Language version of the updates you are looking for. THen you can download the updates seperatly.

Microsoft Technet. You have to download anything not covered by a service pack individually, unless you're just trying to install them, then just use windows update as previously suggested.

Good luck!
