Windows Updates

By trahim ·
Does anyone know if a Windows (XP Pro) update blocks the McAfee auto-update? I had about 10 Windows updates on a certain date, and McAfee stopped auto-updating the next day. I can still update McAfee manually.

McAfee has a problem with VirusScan Enterprise v8.0i

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to Windows Updates

Our updates for VirusScan Enterprise v8.0i stopped on February 2nd. Product support expired on 12/31/08, but virus definitions are still available if you can get the program to update.

McAfee says it's because the CMA portion of their product hasn't been updated to the latest version, yet it's impossible to find the darned thing to download. You have to start a support session and ask them for the link. And, if your grant number has expired, you're out of luck getting a support session started.

A work around is to go to the McAfee Control Panel, right click on Auto-Update and choose properties, then turn off the 3rd box down, auto-update 'other' modules and click OK to get out. Then, right click Auto-Update and tell it to run now. The product will download the latest DAT files.

Windows updates can cause the McAfee updates to become corrupted ..

by Peconet Tietokoneet In reply to Windows Updates

The best way around this it to: Start > programs" and look for "McAfee > un-install", and just completely un-install it, re-boot and then re-install McAfee and do the updates to it. Hope it works out for you.
