Windows Updates for Power Users

By tech06 ·
There are several Windows XP users who has Power User. This prevents them from the installing Windows Updates whenever they become available. Without changing their user right, is there any way the Windows Updates can be installed without having to involve the network admin?

Yes, if you are on a domain you can add them as a local machine admin.

I'm sure there are other ways, including pushing out the updates from a server.

Anyone else?

You can add them in administrator group on the local machines, Or give them specific rights on the local machines to installing and updating the Windows.

SUS is one way to accomplish this. You could check out the GFI product which will also allow you to push out updates but not free. Using the SUS or the GFI product users can be users only for the updates to apply.
