Windows Vist TCP/IP problem

by kentavius . Updated 17 years, 3 months ago

I have been running into computers running Windows Vista that are experiencing a problem with slow surf issues when dealing with a cable modem. For some reason, when I ping a web site on these computers, they will ping fine for the first few packets and then it will ping itself and give an error message of unreachable destination. I know it’s not the cable modem because I can plug another computer into the modem and it works fine and pulls a different IP address from what the other computer is pulling. The weird part is that I can plug a router to the computer running vista, and it will surf and ping the internet just fine. The problem just occurs when plugging the Vista machine directly to the cable modem itself. Anyone have a solution to the problem or have seen this problem occuring?
