I have a Windows Vista Home install on my laptop that I use to connect to my corporate network. I understand Vista Home will not allow you to join a domain so I just used the name of the corporate domain name as the workgroup. I can “see” all the clients on that workgroup just fine via Explorer browser however when I go to access resources on one of those clients I get the following:
“Windows cannot access \\ClientName. Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network….”
I am accessing workgroup printers just fine albeit via TCP/IP ports mapped directly to the address of those printers. If I can see the machines shouldn’t I be able to access them. I’m expecting to at least get access credential dialogues but I dont even get that. Any ideas?
