windows Vista BCD store

By northwood ·
Does anyone know if you can edit the VISTA BCD store from the registry?

I tried BCDedit.exe but is is very limited. I want to change the text wording in the boot menu.

With the boot.ini file, you can use notepad to change the text wording, but not so with the BCD store.

No. It must be done from either the command prompt or by using a boot managing application such as VistaBootPro (Free).

Anyway, From your desktop, simply click
'Start > Programs > Accessories', right-click on 'Command Prompt' and select 'Run as administrator'.

Type or Copy & Paste:
bcdedit /set {current} description "Vista Ultimate"

Press the 'Enter' key

1) Replace Vista Ultimate with whatever you'd like.

2) Note the spaces when typing & the quotation marks must remain.

3) For a complete list of commands,
type: bcdedit /?
Press 'Enter' key
