Windows Vista security and the internet

By gillandrichard ·

If you have Windows Vista and its associated security software like Windows Defender etc and you are also running an anti virus checker like AVG or Avast, is there any additional security that is recommended before a new user begins to use the internet and shop online giving out credit card details etc. And if anything else is recommended then can you tell me if it is compatible with Vista.

1. Make sure you have the latest Windows security updates (see Windows Update tool)
2. Ensure Firewall is enabled on connections.
3. Use IE's Protected Mode is on (see bottom bar) - Internet Options, Security tab.

Other than that, that should cover 99.9% of having a secure connection to internet.
