Windows Voice Greeting

By Judge Dread ·
This came my attention upon watching the movie " Independance Day". I have been asked by others as well in regards to my question. On the lap top of "Dave" he was "suppossedly greeted with a voice greeting. Now If this is an actuality does anyone know how this effect can be done. I would suspect that this would be best to occur after all programs and the desktop has finished loading. Any suggestions or help ? I would appreciate anything that can point me in the right diredtion

click on apply and close your way out
when you start windows it will have the voice sound you assigned.

If you need a voice file greeting and want to make own yourself use sound recorder under

programs
accessories
entertainment
sound recorder.

record the voice greeting using your laptop microphone, name it, save it and then do what i instructed in the beginning of the question

I appreciate your response and I apologize for not being more specific in my question. The voice greeting was accompanied with a scrolling line like"......Good Morning Dave! This would change to "Afternoon" and "Evening" as time advanced throughout the day.

Hi,
Hingrman is on the money, but if you need different greetings for time of day then you'll need a different wav file for every permutation. As I don't think you can change the relevant registry settings quickly enough during login (might be worth a try though) you could have a batch file in startup or the run registry key that looks at the time and calls whatever wav file is relevant. IE

for /f %%A "delims=:" in ('time /t') do set /a now=%%A

If %now% LSS 12 (goodmorning.wav
goto end)
If %now% LSS 18 goodafternoon.wav
goto end)
goodevening.wav
:end

This is 'off the cuff' but the logic is sound. Copy it to a file, name it test.cmd and replace the wav names with existing files - including the path.
