lsass.exe

by mahansench In reply to WINDOWS WILL NOT BOOT!!!

Hello,

This file is essential to Windows. If you can do it, check out the following article:
http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/lsass.exe.html

You might have to do a "clean" installation of your system.

Check your boot sequence in BIOS setup

Make sure CD-ROM (or DVD-ROM) is in front of harddrive. Then use Windows CD to boot up and repaire (I assume you are using Win2K or WinXP).

Re-Install Only Good Fix

by viperiii In reply to lsass.exe

Somehow messed up the SAM Db... Lsass is essential to the system and can be repaired but not very well... Seems to be a corruption issue that is more related to hardware issues. Like some of the other posts yes RAM could be the ultimate culprit...

Purhase new HDD's and install fresh... install old HDD's as secondaries and extract data...

Better off in the long run that way anyway!

Only FIx

by balistic114 In reply to WINDOWS WILL NOT BOOT!!!

Basically the problem with wahat is going on in your situation, is a corrupted or lost file for windows. THat particular executable is looked for upon the boot process. Its one of the mnay important files that the OS needs. Soin order to fix this you eiether need to:

1). reformat and reinstall
2.)make a list of the files it says are missing and from another machine transfer those windows files that are mssing to removable media and then with the win xp cd go back to repar to the recovery console and tranfer the files you put on the removable media to the exact diretory that you got them from the working machine.

3)get a spare HDD format it with windows to prepare it for storage and use the corrupted one as a slave so you dont lose data

THANX FOR ALL YOUR HELP

by UENTERED_THEWU36 In reply to Only FIx

WELL WHAT IM ABOUT TO DO IS PUT THE CD-ROM ON TOP OF THE BOOT MENU AND RESTORE THE WHOLE SYSTEM WITH THE RESTORE DISK AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE RESTORE. I'VE ONLY HAD THE LAPTOP FOR 2 MONTHS IT'S BRAND NEW SO I DIDN'T HAVE AS MUCH IN IT YET SO I DON'T MIND RESTORING IT.
