Windows won’t recognize printer

by viortiz . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

Windows 95 won’t recognize a printer. This printer has been used for a few years in this Win 95 system. Last week, out the blue, it stopped working. Thinking the printer was broken, I installed the printer on another computer (Win98SE), and it works fine. But when it is installed on this Win 95 computer, it won’t work. I updated the printer drivers and no luck. The message is the no communication printer error message.

My next step is to upgrade this pc to Win98, since I’m guessing there’s a problem with the operating system. If that doesn’t work, then I will assume there’s a problem with the parallel port. Does anyone have any other ideas on what the problem could be? How can I test the parallel port besides trying to attach a different printer to it? Thanks.
