Windows XP

I am having a problem with Windows XP. I tried to upgrade but ran into a problem with 13 minutes left, the install would not complete. I have used the last good config. the restore console the repair ungrade and the fixmbr features, but to no avail. I can see the drive from my second hard drive, but can only enter into file for one user, the other user has very important info which wasn’t backed up on CD yet. What else can I do. Also, the repair install would copy all the setup files, then reboot, but after the Win XP logo comes up, the system than halts.
