We have recently replaced Windows NT workstations with Dell and Windows XP running on it. All dell systems have CD/RW installed on it, is there a way to disable CD writer funtion only? I want users to use CD ROM but not the ability to write any CD.
I would appreciate your support?

Thank you,

Try this:

1. Navigate to a folder showing the drive of your CD recorder.
2. Right?click it, click Properties, and then click the Recording tab. There are four options you can change here, including the ability to enable/disable CD recording on your CD/RW drive.
3. Uncheck the "Enable CD recording on this drive" option.
4. Click Apply.

I hope this solves your problem.

You might also wish to check the users rights to their local machines. Make sure that they do not have the rights to change this back later on. If so restrict them.
