Windows xp and printing

By rutufa ·
I am running windows Xp. Everytime I send a print job on a network printer, the computer restarts itself. Other machines on the network printer that run on Win 98 print okay. But none on XP print, but just restarts.Any thoughts what is the problem and how to solve it.

I would say that you blue screening the machine. By fefault XP will reboot when it blue screens. I think you have a driver problem. Try adding the same type of printer as a local printer (with the correct drivers).

I had the same problem, except it caused my computer to slow right down. I could also print but it took 15 minutes. As soon as I deleted the network printer my pc was fine again. I tried using another network printer (canon ink jet) and that was okay. I downloaded the latest driver on the Kyocera web site and installed it. It is still a bit slow but workable now. Best of luck.

Definitely a driver issue. Delete the existing driver and remove the files. Find the latest driver from the manuafacturer and make sure it is XP compliant. Several Vendors still don't have drivers for XP. You didn't state the manufacturer and model number of the printer?
