    XP CLIENT POLICIES
I have a W2K server with some XP professional clients.
These clients I have put in an ou and for an experiment I applied a simple policy, change wallpaper and disable control panel. When client logs on none of these changes occur. Why?
I have tried logging on a least 10 times, no changes occur at the XP machine

I don’t know how you create the security policy, but just a thought: when choosing a specified wallpaper, don’t use the local address (c:\winnt\wallpaper) but the UNC address (\\server\share_folder\wallpaper). When applying a policy it has to be linked to an OU. Use secedit command to refresh the policy on your domain.

      Conflicting policies?

Try logging on a completely new user account (with a clean profile) that is not inside an OU so that no previous policies are applying to that user.

Then failing it working at that point, check your group policy refresh interval.

CHeck the event log for entries on the client machine. Also, download gpresult from Microsoft to see hat policies actually were deployed.

Confirm the DNS is configured correctly that the Server DNS points to inself for DNS resolution and that the clients point to the server. There should be errors in the event viewer in regards to the group policy failing. Same issue one time with policy.
