is the username set to "(machine_name)\Guest" and grayed out?

If this is a domain-connected PC, sometimes BOTH the username and password can get grayed out of the network adapter goes to sleep. If so, turn off power mgt for the NIC.

ctl+alt+del

The username is set to "Student". The computer has been joined to our domain but it was being logged into the local computer. Even if you try and log into any domain you cannot change the username. I had it log into the domain and tried to remote desktop to the computer but it is not set up for remote access. Based on policies applied to our students computers they are not able to get to the "properties" of "my computer".

log in as the local Admin, and delete the local Student account.

C'mon, Matt; you've been a member long enough to know to post this over in Q&A :-)
