Windows XP – CTrl Key appears stuck

by osowande . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

In my setup, I have two Windows XP PCs connected to a KVM switch. One of the PCs seems to think that the Ctrl key is stuck, or is permanently pressed. THe other PC is fine. The problem only occurs once you log into Windows, and it allows me to type in my password. Once you’re logged in, you cannot type, as pressing ‘r’ brings up the run dialog, pressing ‘l’ locks the screen, and so on and so forth. It’s not a hardware problem, as the other PC connected to the same Keyboard is fine. Also tried connecting the Keyboard directly, same problem.

THe Stickykeys feature is turned off as well, so that isn’t it.

I have to say that the KVM switch requires you to press ‘ctrl’ twice to switch screens, so I may have inadvertenly swicthed some thing on. I just can’t figure out what !!
