Windows XP dadtray.exe and explorer.exe

By systechadmin ·
Can I decrease the priority of the dadtray and explorer.exe to improve system performance?

The dadtray and explorer are each using 50 to 100% of the CPU causing the system to freeze. I know how to lower the priority, but is there anything else Ican do?

Dadtray.exe, (oh what a resource hog) is part of Corel Office Suite. It puts what about 6 icons in the system tray? This is so useless. You can disable it totally and watch your system poformance improve. I think you can right click on the icon thatlooks like 4 arrows pointing away from each other and there's a choice to disable it. If you like to use it you can put a shortcut on the desktop.

If I remember, dadtray is in the startup folder you can remove it or as I said cut and paste it to the desktop. The fact that the system is locking up may be the start of more problems. If you upgraded to XP you may want to uninstall and reinstall Corel Office Suite. Plus make sure your virus software and dats are up to date. Also check for updated drivers for the various components of the PC.

Thank you for your response. I used your advice and now notice a considerable improvement in system performance. I had just purchased a Dell laptop with XP Home Edition. Now it is working as it should.

Thanks again.
