Windows XP dadtray.exe and explorer.exe

Can I decrease the priority of the dadtray and explorer.exe to improve system performance?

The dadtray and explorer are each using 50 to 100% of the CPU causing the system to freeze. I know how to lower the priority, but is there anything else Ican do?
