WINDOWS XP FAILS TO RECOGNIZE EXTRA RAM ABOVE 2MB

by tony.treanor . Updated 17 years, 4 months ago

Hello Everyone,

I recently installed 8mb of ram on a dell PC.

The cmos recognizes the 8mb but, following the initialization of windows XP, the OS only sees 2mb!

The ‘msinfo32 utlilty’ also recognizes that there is 8mb present.

I’m running XP with SP2 installed.

Is there a fix for this? How do I get the OS to recognize that there is 8mb loaded and not 2mb?!

Any help or advice wooulf be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cathal
