windows xp FOUND NEW HARDWARE CIRCLE

By computerlink ·
Windows XP (upgraded from win2000pro) keeps saying FOUND NEW HARDWARE for UNKNOWN DEVICE after every bootup. It cycles through this 8 times and installs an unknown device using same memory/irq resources. It comes from a failed attempt to install 8port i/o card with no drivers suitable. card is no-longer in the computer.
How can I cancel the install and stop it from trying to install on every bootup. have tried every driver known and unknown, deleted devices, disabled devices. it keeps filling up the device manager with unknown devices.

windows xp FOUND NEW HARDWARE CIRCLE

by XpertDragon In reply to windows xp FOUND NEW HARD ...

Here is a site, that has a lot of information about managing devices within Windows XP. Yet another problem with the ease and functionality of Windows XP wanting to set up anything and everything plug n play, and it won't quit until the device nolonger has conflicts:

(Take out any spaces if any do appear after this post).

Best of luck!

I have read everything at the site suggested, but nothing comes close to the same problem.

It only suggests that I should contact Microsoft Support to remove the device from the device manager.

It is stable now, with a whole heap (16) of unknown devices. I have tried disabling these devices, which then causes another 16 unknown device to be installed on the next re-boot.
