Windows xp H.E. logon process

RECENTLY MY BROTHERS COMPUTER HAS BEEN BEHAVING THIS WAY :

ONCE IT SHOWS THE WELCOME MESSAGE (SINCE MY BROTHER DONT HAVE AN ACCOUNT BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT REGULARLY USES THAT COMPUTER)IT UPLOADS THE DESKTOP SCREEN BUT THE WINDOWS LOGON MUSIC DOESNT COME UP LIKE IN TWO MINUTES AFTER THE DESKTOP SCREEN SHOWS UP, AND ONLY AFTER THE MUSIC FINISHES IS THAT IT CAN RECEIVE COMMANDS , AND THE PROGRAMS START TO LOAD INTO MEMORY .WHAT CAN BE WRONG AND HOW CAN I FIX IT ??tHANKS A LOT . att SaM.

Lots of junk in the startup. My standard tune-up consists of running Spybot Search & Destroy, then Ad-Aware 6, then Spysweeper. Once that's finished, I download RegSupreme and run a deep scan, removing all that's found. RegSupreme can be found at www.macecraft.com, and the others are all available from www.download.com
