I’ve a Window XP,Home Edition OS running on a Sony Vaio Laptop. I had to do a complete restore of my Laptop recently because system response had become extremely slow. Ever since, I’m experiencing a strange problem, which is forcing my laptop to restart. A small message window pops up intimating that the laptop is going to restart in 50 seconds. It identifies itself as NT AUTHORING/SYSTEM (not sure what is it).
It gives a brief reason, saying that the RPC(Remote Procedure Call) has terminated abruptly, and hence the action.Incidentally, in all such occasions I was connected to the internet using my broadband.
I’ve a Norton Anti Virus-2004, the virus definitions are as latest as 06/06/2007. It indicates no virus infection; these days I’m almost doing a daily scan.
Could you please explain the behaviour and possible solution?
