windows xp ide drive found as scsi

I have 2 ide drives 60gb IBM and 80gb Maxtor both are found by the bios but winxp lists them as scsi with 0mb volume and no drive letter assigned?

Like what type of M'Board, if they are on a secondary IDE channel or an IDE controller card and other such things.

Generally SCSI drives are recognized by XP without a problem and it assigns drive letters as available.

The only thing that I can think is happening here is that the HDD's in question are blank and unformatted but even then they should be assigned a drive letter.

Really this should be in the Q & A Section where you will get an auto-generated answer whenever anyone replies to your question and most likely there will be someone in your time zone who is able to help you out faster than posting a question in a discussion forum.
