Windows-XP Instability

By www.daknaben ·
About 3 minutes after booting, my windows-xp gives the following message:

"Initiating NT authority. Remote process
system call."

Then it counts down from 40 to 0 and shuts down.

What should I do please.
Thanks
Krada

Sounds like the "worm" going around the last 24 hours. Does it automatically restart after it shuts down? Do you have an updated antivirus app on the PC? Have you run Windows Update in the last month?

It's definitely the worm.

First do this:
Turn on your firewall. go to start>help. Do a search for firewall. One of the first hits should say something like "Enable Internet Connection Firewall". Follow the steps outlined in there.

Second:
go here to remove the virus with FixBlast.exe

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html

Third:
Go here and install the patch for XP 32Bit
