windows XP installation

By bra ·
I cannot install Windows XP on an ASUS P5A motherboard. The installation program repports the message: "There is a conflict with your motherboard and your graphics-card". My graphics-card is a ASUS riva tnt2 ultra (AGP).
I have updated to the latest ASUS P5A bios and the latest ASUS riva tnt drivers, but still the same message.
What can I do to remove this conflict ??

Check the BIOS configuration that onboard video card is disabled

This may also be the work around by enabling the onboard graphics if available, run setup using onboard graphics, then installing the video card

Go to ASUS web site to check for fixes that may be noted for this conflict.

The solution was: Install win2000. Then install Nvidia's TNT 2 drivers instead of Asus own drivers. Now Windows XP repports that theres no conflict anylonger !

In BIOS settings, set Plug and Play OS to no.

Under VGA options, do not assign an IRQ or shadow the video BIOS.

Under Plug and Play, make sure that ALL IRQs are set to auto or P-N-P.

Finally, set update configuration, or EISA to yes/enable.

You may need to remove other plug in cards, or disable on-board periphials until you have XP running.
Then, add them back one at a time.
