windows xp logon to samba server

Connecting XP client to a Samba server
I have a Linux Samba server with mostly windows 98 clients which work fine. I have just aquired a windows XP client and can't get it connected to the Samba server. Any thoughts?Pl advice asap.

You need to enable plain text passwords in windows Xp. Pls click on below link and follow the procedure :

Win XP has the secure data channel (always) turned on by default, which does not work with Samba. Go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Local Security Settings and under Local Policies --> Security Options disable "Domain member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel data (always)". This will enable Win XP Pro to talk with Samba.

Upgrade your samba. You need at least samba version 2.2 to be able to connect using Win XP.

This is from samba documentation:
"Since version 2.2 Samba officially supports domain logons for all current Windows Clients, including Windows 2000 and XP."
