Windows XP Media Center System Restore Failure

By rswans ·
I have an HP m7480n Media Center PC that I purchased a month, ago. I, recently, have had some application issues so thought I'd try System Restore. At first, when I started it, it went through the restore files process and, when it re-booted, I got an error window saying that the system restore failed as nothing has changed on my computer. Now, when I try to boot up System Restore, the computer does nothing with no SR window loading up. The only way I can, now get into it is through Start-Run, etc. I, even, tried to run it in Safe Mode but it still failed. I disabled my Norton internet Security, also.

this is not uncommon

look at another restore point instead. But I have found that system restore only works about 60% of the time for me. That is why I always clone my drive after setting it up, that way I can go right back to it in the 'new' status with any changes that I have made or programs installed (antispyware, firewall, antivirus, ghost, etc.).

Backup your data and Reinstall the OS or boot from windows xp cd and perform a new install attempt in the course of install the windows xp setup will detect your OS and asks you whether to reinstall or repair the current os press R to repair your current OS, this might solve your problem or if you are not proficient then take your system to your nearest HP service center or some professional.
