windows XP Networking

By jwade_2 ·
I have 2 PC's using XP Home connected via DSL router. From either PC, I can see the other but have no access to the harddrives. What am I missing, why do I not have access to the shared harddrives.

You have to share the actual drives...go to My computer, right click on the drives you want to access, go to the sharing tab and select share this folder, then go to the permissions box and assign the proper permissions (group/user names, full control, change, read, etc.) That should do it!

as well as sharing the drives as previously stated you have to create accounts on each computer for the user names on the other computer.

I Have The Same Network But With XP Pro, Go To Start, Select My Computer, Select The Hard Drive You Would Like To Share. Right Click The Hard Drive Icon You Want To Share, Scroll Down To Sharing, Click In, Top Button Sharing, Click The Underlined Message, Follow Instruction's. Or Open My Network Places And Drag And Drop The Hard Drive To That Folder, Which Will Create A Shortcut For You! Then You Will Have Access To That HDD!
