Windows XP not logging in!

By fathom ·
My os is WinXP Home

Everytime I try logging into my computer it immediately logs me out. I tried logging in under someone else and it did the same thing. Anyone that tries to log in to my computer (at my computer) gets logged back out. I didn
t do anyting unusual to my computer last time it worked. Please help. Thanks in advance.

During the boot press F8 and Selcect "last know good configuration," if same problem, try F8 again during boot and choose safe mode and then logon to the computer and run system restore, located in Start | Programs | Accessories | System tools | System restore. Good luck.

Did "last know good configuration" still unable to log in. Went into safemode and couldn't log in from there neither. It would do the same thing, log in and log out.

This is a "known" problem though I don't think the actual cause has been pinned down (some blame spyware). Anyway, you should be able to perform a repair. Take you XP cd-rom and boot from it. You'll reach a screen in which one of the options is to perform a repair of your current installation. Choose repaire ("R") and follow the prompts. A repair will not affect your XP setup or your data.

I hope this works for you.
