Windows XP & Printing in AutoCad

By jvillberg ·
I have a user running Windows XP SP1 and Autocad 2005LT. When he prints to the HP 5000 printer and selects the 11 x 17 paper size it prints to the 8.5 x 11 and screws up the document. It even makes the circles oval shaped.
I have tried updating the drivers on both the workstation and the server. Any other ideas?

Two things:

First, create an AutoCAD plot device (PC3 file) using that printer. Go through that AutoCAD "plotter", not the system printer.

Second, when setting up the plot from within AutoCAD, the user will, most likely, have to go into that plotting device properties, and select the tray that contains the 11x17, tray two, for example. direct the AutoCAD plot to the tray that has the 11x17 paper.

You might want to create a plotting device (PC3 file) for both 8x11 and 11x17, configuring a default paper tray accordingly.
