Windows XP Pro 32-bit? RAM=4GB?

by jdmajor2 . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

I’ve only recently have some spare time to join forums, and I have seen forum posts that say Win XP Pro RAM can have a total of 4GB? I’ve seen microsoft pages on memory limits, PAE and other related topics, 32-bit vs. 64-bit.

Some posts that say you can only increase the RAM to 4 GB if you have a 32-bit, but have also seen that increase can only be done if your computer is 64-bit.

I think my computer is a 32-bit, and my Win XP Pro version I thought has a total limit of RAM to 1GB, so is it possible that I can have say, a 2GB, 3GB, or even 4GB RAM?

Where can I find the absolute truth in this, I’m so confused with microsoft’s pages, and the posts too.
